Recent forecasts of villa price falls in Spain will not harm the average British overseas property buyer and will probably be good in the long term say experts.
Property groups and foreign currency specialists argue Spain remains a good overseas property investment location and will benefit from steady growth in the long term.
Spanish property companies shares were overpriced and investors are bailing out after understanding that prices cannot keep on growing, said Stuart Law, MD of Assetz property group.
This should be good news for the property market generally, as it will reduce the vast gearing of listed property companies, reduce the high levels of villa building which has led to over supply and also decrease levels of illegal building which is distressing for some buyers.
Assetz believes there will not be a significant price drop for the country and forecasts growth of around five to seven per cent per year going onwards.
